History
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel have been depicted in many famous paintings throughout history, usually with royalty. King Charles II made the Cavalier popular during his reign, and set the breed standard for the time.
Color
Coat colors often come in a variety of colors: Blenheim - Rich chestnut markings well broken up on a clear, pearly white ground, with a white blaze between the eyes and ears, Tricolor - Jet black markings well broken up on a clear, pearly white ground, with a white blaze between the eyes. Ruby - Whole-colored rich red, and Black and Tan - Jet black with rich, bright tan markings over eyes, on cheeks, inside ears, on chest, legs, and on underside of tail.
